Russell's neighborhood lighting display, "Plaza on the Plains," is a tradition that has started in the community decades ago. Each neighborhood has a different lighted yard display, but over the years when people have moved or passed, the displays have decreased.
The Russell County Area Community Foundation awarded the Russell Pride committee funding to revive this tradition, which also goes hand in hand with the other Christmas events throughout the community. "As result of this project, we have reignited the love for our neighborhood lighting displays," said grantee Andrea Krauss. "This grant gave this project its life. Without the funds, we would never have been able to purchase the materials necessary to complete them."
